A path through history between Val di Luce and Abetone
Not a particularly demanding route...

POINTS OF INTEREST
The trail dates back to World War I. The Italian army needed timber for the construction of planks, beams and rafters, particularly required for the construction of shelters and bridges. The Royal Corps of Forests therefore decided to create labor camps where to employ foreign labor from the prisons of the front. A first nucleus of prisoners was placed in the Val di Luce and to connect this area with the center of Abetone a route was built that is still called "il Sentiero del Tedesco".
